General Policy
I. General Policy  

WTBO WKGO Corporation, LLC. has a policy to afford equal employment opportunity in to all qualified individuals without the regard to race, color, religion, national origin or sex, in all personnel actions including recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination.

II. Responsibility for Implementation

Richard Cornwell, General Manager will be responsible for implementing WTBO/WKGO Corporations EEO program. It will also be the responsibility of all persons making employment decisions with respect to the recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination of employees to insure that our policy and program is adhered to and that no person is discriminated against in employment because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex.

III. Policy Dissemination

To ensure that all members of the staff are cognizant of our equal employment opportunity policy and their individual responsibilities in carrying out this policy, the following efforts will be made:

The station’s employment application forms will contain a notice informing prospective employees that discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex is prohibited and that they may notify the appropriate local, State or, Federal agency if they believe they have been the victims of discrimination.

Appropriate notices will be posted informing applicants and employees that the stations are equal opportunity employers and of their right to notify an appropriate local, State or, Federal agency if they believe they have been the victims of discrimination.

In any advertising for job openings the stations will include a notice informing prospective employees that discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex is prohibited, and that WTBO/WKGO Corporation, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity Employers.

Annual EEO Public File Report for WTBO- WKGO Corporation

 

 

RECRUITMENT FOR FULL-TIME VACANCIES

 

a) During the period from June 1, 2014, to June 1, 2015, WTBO-WKGO Corporation LLC (i.e., WTBO, WKGO, WFRB, WFRB-FM) (the “Stations”) added three full-time employees sales personnel.  

 

b)  The Stations used the recruitment services listed below in a combined recruitment for the three hires which all occurred during the fall of 2014.

 

c) Five persons were interviewed for the three positions. Two learned of the opportunity from the Stations’ advertising in the Cumberland Times News; two from the Stations’ bulletin board, and one from a direct recruitment made by the Stations’ Assistant General Manager while he was attending  the Mineral County Fair on behalf of the Stations.

 

d) The three sales personnel who were hired learned of the position from:

            1) The Stations’ bulletin board (2 hirees); and

            2) The Assistant General Manager’s recruitment effort at the Mineral

               County Fair.

NON-VACANCY SPECIFIC RECRUITMENT EFFORTS

 

May 5th, 2015 WKGO Program Director Tim Martin and News Director Jim Van gave a guided tour of the WTBO/WKGO Studios to Multimedia Technology students of Allegany College of Maryland. During the tour they demonstrated and explained the duties and responsibilities of employees in broadcasting, while fielding questions. They spoke to students about careers in broadcasting.

 

April 22nd 2015, News Director Jim Van attended the fall meeting of the Program Advisory Committee for Allegany College of Maryland’s Communications Arts. This is an on-going advisory committee, to help guide the future of the Communication Arts Program. Tim Martin and Jim Van are permanent members of the committee and will continue to attend regular meetings.

 

April 22nd, 2015 Tim Martin, Asst G.M., and Carson Yoder, Program Director of WFRB FM, participated in a Career Fair at Frostburg State University.  Students met with various employers from the region. The event was promoted on Facebook as well as live on-air promotion.

 

November 13th and 14th  2014 Tim Martin, Asst G.M., and Carson Yoder, Program Director of WFRB FM, participated in a Career Fair for all middle school students in Allegany County, MD. It is called Allegany School’s Annual Focus on the Future Showcase”  The event was held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building located just off Rt. 220 South of Cumberland, MD. The event was promoted on air and on our Facebook pages.

 June 2nd- July 31st, 2014  Summer Internship Program. A student From Frostburg State University, participated in a summer internship program. Interns are exposed to all aspects of broadcasting and trained in the basics of radio.

 

June 15th - August 15th Summer Internship Program. A student from Keyser High school participated in a self-study intership, while not required or through a specific school or program the intern was exposed to all aspects of broadcasting and trained in the basics of radio.
